From 20 emails a day to 2 — how an outdoor retailer made its KonversAI assistant work as hard as its support team.

“Our customers shop when it suits them, often late in the evening or on a Sunday. Now they get help right away, whenever they need it. That means happier customers, and a team that can focus on the questions where a person really makes the difference.”

Vipåtur.no sells outdoor and hiking clothing for the whole family — jackets, trousers, fleece, wool base layers — through a Norwegian Shopify store run by Skjelland Group. Like most e-commerce retailers, their support inbox filled up with the same handful of questions every day: sizing, shipping, returns, "will this keep me warm enough." Nothing complicated, but enough of it to eat a full day, every day.

Vipåtur is KonversAI's first live Shopify deployment, and it's become the reference case for what e-commerce integration should look like.

Not a chatbot bolted onto the store — an assistant wired into it

The Vipåtur assistant doesn't answer from a static FAQ. It knows the live product catalogue, connects directly to their returns platform (yayloh) and their sizing app (Kiwi Sizing), and can pull real order data when a customer asks about their own purchase. That's the difference between "you'll need to contact us" and an actual answer, on the spot.

Ask it what size to get at 180cm if you usually wear medium, or what you need for a hiking trip in northern Norway in October, and it doesn't point you to a buying guide — it works out an answer from what you told it. Ask it to find something similar to a jacket you're looking at, but warmer, and instead of browsing 40 product pages, it builds a recommendation from your size, destination, season and budget.

Where it matters most: the hours nobody's at a desk

The clearest impact shows up evenings and weekends — exactly when people are browsing and buying, and exactly when support has always been closed. Vipåtur is now available 24/7/365 without anyone needing to be online to make that true.

Catching questions before they become emails

One detail that's easy to miss: Vipåtur also uses KonversAI's dynamic contact forms. When a customer starts typing a question into the contact form, the assistant tries to answer it in real time — before the form is ever submitted. If it resolves the question, no email gets sent at all. Between the chat widget and the contact form working the same way, a meaningful share of the inbox simply never arrives.

Catching sales that would otherwise have been missed

The assistant's usefulness isn't limited to support. In one instance, a customer asked about a package deal the assistant didn't have pre-loaded information on — and rather than deflecting, it worked out the right product and quantity to put together a package on the spot, in chat. It's the kind of sale that likely wouldn't have happened through a static FAQ or a "we'll get back to you" contact form; the channel being active and capable enough to engage was what made the difference.

What this means beyond Vipåtur

Shopify is the first in a growing list of e-commerce integrations for KonversAI. For any online store where the support team spends a chunk of its week answering the same sizing, shipping and returns questions, this is built to take that weight off — without turning customer service into "have you tried our FAQ?"
